Growing up, Brett Dennen's parents encouraged him to have a cultured view on life to gain perspectives unavailable to him in public school. He spent most of his time growing organic vegetables and listening to Paul Simon's 'Graceland', which led to his passion for social change. In college, Brett studied social movements by getting out of the classroom and involved in the community. Through his music, Brett continues his quest for social change; with his Love Speaks initiative and his partnership with the GreenNotes program.

So at most Brett Dennen shows, and all the shows during the Fall 2007 Good Excuse Tour with John Butler Trio, there was a local non-profit organization present, providing information about the work they do in your community and how you can get involved. Brett consistently encourages fans to take action in their communities!

CLIF BAR and GreenNotes are proud to partner with Brett and help him amplify his message while on the road.Through the partnership with CLIF BAR, Brett took the following steps while on tour with fellow GreenNotes friends in 2008, Mason Jennings and Missy Higgins:

  • Fueling the tour bus with biodiesel
  • Offering an organic cotton t-shirt option to fans
  • Using 100% recycled paper and soy based inks for all printed materials
  • Reducing the amount of waste produced while on tour
  • Recycling on board the bus and backstage at venues
  • Requesting organic food backstage at all shows
  • Minimizing the idling of their bus when not in use

Carpool to my next show and reduce your impact.
